circa (computational infrastructure for residential climate analysis) is a research project that aims to systematically design, develop, implement, operate, and evaluate resilient construction techniques and renewable energy systems in the residential buildings sector.
The circa research project focuses on both the supply-side of green energy and building policies, resilient building construction practices, electricity grid dynamics, and renewable energy systems deployment processes but also on the demand side of personal energy consumption dynamics with reference to on-site weather patterns and evolving personal lifestyle aspirations.
Additionally, term ‘circa’ is overloaded: circa research project is one side of a holistic computational social science research program-the other side is the novel CIRCA Design Philosophy which encapsulates the following five design principles for residential buildings:

Each circa research field site is envisioned as a real-world experimental research project that not only exploits established technologies and processes but also explores emerging ones.
There are three minimum requirements for a circa research field site:
(1) a renewal energy system installation
(2) computational infrastructure for monitoring, measurement, storage, and provision of both energy production and consumption data
(3) an on-site or remote weather station
For specific details, refer to the individual circa research field site listed above.
